When was the Last Time Utah Lost a Game at Home?

It had been 18-straight games that Utah hadn't lost a game at home as Rice-Eccles Stadium has proven a difficult place to play for opponents.

For every team, playing at home and in friendly confines gives you a considerable advantage. That’s incredibly apparent in college football as many teams sport long winning streaks at home.

For the Utah Utes, Rice-Eccles Stadium is an incredibly tough place for opponents to play and they certainly have had their fair share of success from RES over the years.

When was the Last Time Utah Lost a Game at Home?

To find the last time Utah lost a game at home, you had to go back pretty far. That was before the Oregon Ducks came to town in 2023.

The two-time defending Pac-12 Champions have won the league for two years straight and hadn’t lost a home game in that stretch.

However, Oregon defeated Utah at home in Week 9 of the 2023 season, ending an 18-game win streak from Rice-Eccles Stadium for the Utes.

Before that, the Utes went 10-3 in 2022, losing only games on the road during the regular season and the Rose Bowl to end the season.

Utah went 10-3 in 2021 as well, again losing only games on the road and the Rose Bowl to end their season.

Utah last lost a home game in 2020 to then-ranked No. 20 USC during the COVID-19-shortened season after Utah’s first two games of the season were canceled.

If you throw out the COVID-19 season, Utah’s last loss at home is even further away. The Utes lost at home in 2018 to then-No. 10 Washington in Week 4 of the 2018 season.

As of October 28, 2023, and since 2018, Utah is 30-3 from home during a dominant stretch.
