Pat McAfee had several moments during last year’s College Game Day, making fans fall in love with him. In one particular instance, it came at the expense of fellow GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit.
In October last year, Herbstreit had to take the trip from Eugene to Texas for the clash between the Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners. He needed to complete the trip within a day to be on time and guess what how he managed to do so. No he didn’t hop a jet. He didn’t take a bus. Instead, Herbstreit hopped into a convertible and drove from Oregon to Texas in a single day.
McAfee was left perplexed, noting that there were three cameras following Herbstreit during the trip. While interacting with Herbstreit, the college football analyst noted that he was cruising at such a high speed that he was not able to gather what the panel was saying during the live broadcast. McAfee used this opportunity to roast Herbstreit.
“It sounds great. It looks great,” McAfee said. “Darren Brown is driving a Mercedes-Benz in the left lane in Oregon right now. You’ve got two cars flanking you with a camera, and you’ve got your flashers on. This might be the most absurd thing that has ever happened on television.”
When someone from the panel suggested that Herbstreit should be declared the governor already, McAfee took a step ahead, saying:
“A mayor doesn’t get this kind of stuff. He’s governor. He’s got to be president.”
On Monday, McAfee recalled this moment from October of last year, calling:
“This was absurd”

Pat McAfee Takes a Step Back From WWE Raw Commentary Due to Exhaustion
College football games aren’t the only place Pat McAfee is seen on camera. One can find him at the broadcasters table in WWE. However, the former NFL kicker has taken a multi-week break from WWE due to exhaustion, since he’s already hosting a daily ESPN program, running his company, and raising his two-year-old daughter.
He also thanked WWE for understanding his decision. He said on his show:
“Continuing to just kind of catch up on life as a whole. Post-Money in the Bank, pre-Night of Champions feels like a good time. I was getting pretty exhausted there. So shoutout to everybody at the WWE looking out for me, too. Very, very thankful.”
Pat McAfee will be busy next week with his show “The Pat McAfee Show” scheduled to go live on July 14 from the Coca‑Cola Roxy in Atlanta for ESPN’s MLB All-Star game coverage.
