Announced in conjunction with LSU Athletics, Our Lady of Lake Health, and the Brooks family, the news of Greg Brooks Jr.’s cancer diagnosis rocked the college football world.
But with every tough battle off the field, and in tough times like these, the perseverance of strong individuals like Brooks shines. To help aid with his ongoing medical care and the expenses resulting, the Tiger Athletic Foundation launched The Greg Brooks Victory Fund.
What is The Greg Brooks Victory Fund?
On the field, Greg Brooks Jr. is a tenacious, menacing defender. The LSU Tigers captain and former Arkansas Razorback terrorized opposing offenses with his blend of speed, athleticism, and skill by himself over the past few seasons.
But now, Brooks needs our help.
To assist his family with the expenses incurred from his illness, the Greg Brooks Victory Fund was created.
“Greg is a fighter and a winner, and we believe wholeheartedly that he will conquer this battle with cancer,” LSU President William F. Tate IV said in a release. “Victories are rarely achieved alone, which is why we’re calling on fans from around the world to rally behind The Greg Brooks Victory Fund. Your support will ensure that Greg and his family have everything they need as they embark on their journey to healing and recovery.”
The Greg Brooks Victory Fund was launched with support from Championship Health Partner, Our Lady of the Lake Health, a nonprofit Catholic healthcare ministry based in Baton Rouge, and is operated by the Tiger Athletic Foundation.
The contributions provided will help offset the costs related to Brooks’ care. Those are said to include treatment, medicine, therapy, travel, and more.
LSU is permitted to accept financial gifts under NCAA rules and can manage this account appropriately. Per those NCAA rules, all contributions must go through this type of fund.
