What Happened to Jeremiyah Love? The Latest as Notre Dame Star Suffers Rib Trouble

Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love is unable to finish his team’s final regular-season game of the year due to a setback he just suffered. On Saturday, Nov. 29, Love and the rest of coach Marcus Freeman‘s Fighting Irish are going head-to-head against coach Tavita Pritchard’s Stanford Cardinal for their Week 12 matchup of the 2025 college football campaign in away territory in Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California.

Unfortunately for the Fighting Irish, however, they will have to come out of the game victorious without the services of Love. This is because a photo posted by college football reporter Matt Fortuna on X/Twitter shows Love during the broadcast holding on to his ribs after just the second drive of the game in the 7:00 mark of the first quarter. It also shows Love heading back into the dugout area.

It has since been revealed that Love actually dealt with a rib injury after he was tackled on the short run of the aforementioned second drive, through which a knee from a Cardinal player inadvertently hit his torso area. The last was seen of Love during the much-anticipated matchup was when he got out of the pitch’s medical tent and headed straight into the locker rooms.

There is no indication yet on whether or not the junior will be out for postseason play since Notre Dame is expected to compete in the NCAA tournament after a win against Stanford. Nevertheless, Love has had a stellar third season of collegiate football with the Fighting Irish, as he has spent his whole tenure with the program. Currently, the St. Louis, Missouri native is in the top three of the 2025 Heisman Trophy power rankings.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Are Dominating The Stanford Cardinal By Halftime

As of writing, it seems as though the 2025 Notre Dame Fighting Irish have held up exceptionally well against the Stanford Cardinal, as they currently lead the game against them by halftime by a staggering 32 points, 35-3. The Fighting Irish are looking to finish the year with just two losses, with their current record being 9-2, and have been able to jump to the edge with their dominant 21-3 second-quarter run.

Notre Dame is fresh off a 63-point triumph over the Syracuse Orange, 70-7, in their last matchup on Week 11 back on Nov. 22.
