The West Virginia Mountaineers are looking to start head coach Rich Rodriguez’s second stint off with a bang, especially when it comes to the transfer portal.
The latest updates have emerged on some of the team’s transfer portal targets, commits and those who have left the program.

The Latest From the West Virginia Transfer Portal
Here are some of the key names that are being looked at by the school, according to insider Keenan Cummings:
WR Justin Smith-Brown, South Carolina State
Smith-Brown is one of the more underrated pass-catchers in the country, and he happens to be in the transfer portal after a solid 2024 season.
The former Bulldog wide receiver recorded 54 catches for 749 yards and four scores last year and has already visited Morgantown.
WR Keelan Marion, BYU
An All-Big 12 return man, Marion returned two kicks for touchdowns last season and also contributed in the passing game for the Cougars.
The junior recorded 44 receptions for 562 yards and a touchdown over the past two seasons in Provo.
WR Jer’Michael Carter, McNeese State
The sophomore pass-catcher has already received an offer from the Mountaineers after tallying 37 catches for 537 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.
At 6-foot-4, his big frame on the outside could be huge for Rodriguez’s offense.
OL Cash Cleveland, Colorado
With three years of eligibility remaining, Cleveland is one of the top offensive linemen in the transfer portal.
After starting the final four games of last season at center for head coach Deion Sanders, Cleveland is looking elsewhere and has already heard from West Virginia.
OL Josh Aisosa, Oklahoma
If the Mountaineers are going to continue rebuilding the interior of their offensive line, Aisosa could be a valuable addition.
He has all four years of eligibility remaining, and at 323 pounds, he is one of the more complete young linemen in the country.
OL Jordan Larsen, South Dakota State
After starting 13 games at left guard last season, the South Dakota native has entered the portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
His special teams experience could also be important, and that may be part of the reason West Virginia has already reached out.
LB Shay Taylor, Ohio
Taylor played four years at Ohio and appeared in 38 games.
He is coming off a season with 72 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and three sacks, and he visited Morgantown earlier this month.
DB Darrian Lewis, Akron
If the Mountaineers want to keep stockpiling talent in the defensive backfield, Lewis could be a key piece.
