In this college-focused Commanders 2025 NFL Mock Draft, we break down some players Washington could take.
The draft is in April, and Washington needs cornerbacks, wide receivers, tight ends, linebackers, and a running back.
29) Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
With the TE a real sore spot for the team, Colston Loveland, a dominant pass catch from the Michigan Wolverines, could fit the bill nicely.
A 6’5″, 245-pound behemoth with a substantial catch radius and excellent route-running abilities despite being limited by actual breakaway speed and run-blocking skills.
With 56 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns in the 2024 season, his college career saw him finish with 117 receptions for 1,466 yards and 11 TDs, so there is some real potential there if he can address the issues mentioned above.
Loveland has the potential to be a TE1 who can make a difference in a pass-heavy offense.
79) Mason Taylor, TE, LSU
Mason Taylor’s name is well known to NFL fans already, but it should be, as his father, Jason Taylor, played for the Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, and New York Jets.

Mason was a college standout for the Tigers and is LSU’s school’s all-time leader for TE in receptions with 129 catches and 1,308 receiving yards. He only dropped one ball in 2024.
He also had at least one reception streak in 28 consecutive games. More importantly, half of Taylor’s receiving yards came after the catch.
98) D.J. Giddens, RB, Kansas State
Kansas State Wildcats RB D.J. Giddens addresses another Commander’s need.
He averaged 6.6 yards per carry last season for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns and had 21 receptions for 258 yards in the air.
A redshirt freshman in 2022, he had 518 rushing yards while playing in every contest.
Giddens is challenged by not having a second gear if he moves into the open field, but that is offset by his smooth running.
115) Oronde Gadsden II, WR, Syracuse
Oronde Gadsden is an all-around weapon who played TE for the Syracuse Orange after transitioning from WR.
As a tight end, he broke the school’s single-season records for receptions and receiving yards in 2022 but followed that up with a Lisfranc fracture in 2023. He played only two games.
That injury may raise concerns for some teams, but he slots in best with those that run the passing game as their primary mode of offense.
He lacks the traditional weight or bulk of a tight end and is better suited as a wideout because of his blocking challenges.
His father, Oronde Gadsden, was a wide receiver in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins.
148) Quincy Riley, CB, Louisville
After three seasons with the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, Quincy Riley parlayed his success into three years with the Louisville Cardinals.
Last season, he gave the Cardinals 13 games, 45 tackles, two interceptions, and eight pass breakups.
He’s a 6’0″, 195-pound corner who works well in the nickel and has the potential to become a starting DB but must improve his run support skills against top receivers.
197) Elijhah Badger, WR, Florida
Elijhah Badger committed to the Florida Gators in 2024 after entering the transfer portal.
At 6’2,” 192 pounds, Badger led the team with 39 catches for 806 yards, 20.7 YPC, and four touchdowns. He also had five 100+ yard receiving games across his collegiate career, which began with the Arizona State Sun Devils.
207) Trevor Etienne, RB, Georgia
Trevor Etienne transferred to the Georgia Bulldogs from the Gators in 2024, and his season was an interesting one with injuries and a suspension limiting him to just 10 games. As a result, he finished with a career-low 609 yards.

The tantalizing piece of his season was the two wins over the Texas Longhorns, where he finished with 181 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
