Was Jalen Milroe a five-star recruit? And just how lofty were the expectations for Alabama's starting quarterback from high school?

The Alabama Crimson Tide are rounding into form during the 2023 college football season. Gone is their quarterback dilemma and ahead of them is greener pastures and a date with the LSU Tigers.

With the recent success at the quarterback position, you’re sure to ask: Was Jalen Milroe a Five-Star Recruit?

Was Jalen Milroe a Five-Star Recruit?

It doesn’t take long to search for Milroe’s recruiting profile and see that he was not a five-star recruit. The Class of 2021 quarterback was a high-ranking recruit, just didn’t quite crack that five-star billing that high school players strive for.

Hailing from Katy, Texas, Milroe was a four-star recruit from all the major recruiting services.

But, Milroe was certainly on the brink of five-star status during his high school career. He closed in on a fifth star during his high school career that saw him throw for 53 touchdowns over the final three seasons at Katy.

Here’s how Milroe stacked up on all four of the major recruiting platforms.

So far in 2023, Milroe has thrown for 1,617 yards and 13 touchdowns. He battled back through a benching at USF to perform much more like his high school billing since.
