The Vanderbilt Commodores are in a race for a spot in the College Football Playoffs, while quarterback Diego Pavia is one of the favorites to win a Heisman. Things are looking good for Vandy ahead of their showdown against the Kentucky Wildcats, though their mascot, Mr. Commodore, seems to have been caught in a little accident just hours before the big game.
The incident was featured on “Marty & McGee”, and it showed Mr. Commodore trying to rev up an ATV, only for it to tip over while he was trying to turn, throwing the mascot off and tumbling. He does seem okay, though, as the mascot was back to his goofy ways soon after.

Mr. Commodore was doing the “Safe” gesture from baseball as he assured the crowd that he was fine. This did get a laugh from the crowd, though, as they prepared to cheer for Vanderbilt as they took on Kentucky.
Mr. Commodore has been Vandy’s mascot since 1873, undergoing over 200 years of transformations into what it is today. He is a staple at Vandy games, be it football, basketball or track and field. He even won the 2003 NCAA Mascot National Championship.

Game Vs. Kentucky A Must-Win For The Vanderbilt Commodores
As for the game that fans were arriving at the university grounds for, the Vanderbilt Commodores are welcoming the Kentucky Wildcats at FirstBank Stadium on Saturday, and this game does have CFP implications.
Coming into the game, Vanderbilt is 8-2 and is currently ranked at No. 14, which means that the Commodores are just two places shy of the Final 12 for the upcoming College Football Playoffs. The team still has a chance to make it to the big dance, but they need to keep winning first, and they can do that against Kentucky.
The Wildcats are currently 5-5 and may possibly miss the CFP, as they are way below in the rankings, but beating them could slightly improve Vanderbilt’s chances of making it to that magic 12. Should they lose to Kentucky, though, the team would have to kiss their CFP chances goodbye. The Wildcats might still miss the postseason, but beating Vandy on the road would be quite the statement.
