As it turned out, USF head coach Alex Golesh is not going to Arkansas after all, but he is going to Auburn instead. The Tigers are hoping Golesh would be the answer to the team’s recent woes, though his impending departure from South Florida could affect things for the Bulls. Namely, some of his current players might not stick around the school for long, with many possibly opting to enter the transfer portal after this season.
Losing Golesh would be a big loss for the school, especially as it was Golesh who turned the program around. The Bulls are currently at a 9-3 overall record under him, including wins over Florida and a dominating 52-3 win over Rice. A mass exodus of players who are not graduating may possibly happen, including a few who might try and transfer to Auburn and follow the coach there.

5 USF Players Who Might Transfer After Alex Golesh Leaves For Auburn
Locklan Hewlett – Quarterback
Hewlett was a big recruitment for Golesh at USF, with him being a US Army All-American and has earned first-team All-District honors in high school. The freshman did not play much this season, especially with Byrum Brown playing a very good season. But Golesh was pegging him to be USF’s future, especially with Brown already a senior. With Golesh gone, the freshman might possibly go elsewhere to get more opportunities.
Marcelis Tate – Quarterback
He is another young QB who barely got any playing time because Byrum Brown was so good at his job. Their head coach leaving might give this sophomore a good chance to look for another school and shine there.
Keshaun Singleton – Running Back
Losing a head coach may mean uncertainty for many teams, and often, some of that team’s most successful players might suffer. That is why Keshaun Singleton, one of the team’s best running backs, might leave to avoid that uncertainty.
Nykahi Davenport – Running Back
Davenport shined in that one-sided victory over Rice, and like Singleton, might have an uncertain future over at USF once the coach leaves. Golesh has praised Davenport for his skill and athleticism, and this could be wasted as the team faces uncertainty after he leaves.
Zavier Hamilton – Linebacker
Hamilton was one of Golesh’s most reliable linebackers, and like many of his teammates, his potential could get wasted if he stays at USF.
