Another year, another season where USC misses another College Football Playoff spot. The thing is, the team has been good and coach Lincoln Riley has proven to be a very good recruiter, but he often falls short of making it to the big dance. Now, he is expected to lose some players to the transfer portal.
This year, a total of four USC players have announced that they will be entering the transfer portal once it opens on Jan. 2, though with Riley’s success with high school recruitment and securing transfers from other schools, the Trojans should recover.

4 USC Trojans Players Who Announced They Are Entering The Transfer Portal
Gus Cordova – Edge rusher
He is still a red shirt freshman who has plenty ahead of him, and Lincoln Riley had hoped he could become a contributor for them in the future. However, he was not able to even play during his time at USC, leading him to become the first player to announce that he will be leaving the school via the transfer portal.
Braylon Conley – Cornerback
Another talented player who got redshirted, though he did not play much for UCLA after a disastrous performance against Illinois, a game where Conley started. However, the redshirt sophomore did get to play a few more times, but he somehow got lost in the shuffle like many of Riley’s other talented recruits.
DJ Jordan – Wide receiver
Lincoln Riley is known to be a prolific recruiter for USC, and he managed to recruit one of the top wide receivers from the Class of 2024 in DJ Jordan. Like Cordova, however, he was not able to play much, given how deep the team’s wide receiver room is, and this may have led to his decision to leave and enter the transfer portal. This is just an example of talented players leaving because the roster was too deep.
Bryan Jackson – Running back
Jackson Riley had plenty of potential but was not able to become a star for Riley’s Trojans, though he did prove to be a very good role player and backup quarterback. He had his chance to be a starter when the running back room got hit with injury problems, but the team went instead with King Miller, and this could have been the catalyst for him leaving.
