The transfer portal is upon us, and it’s time for USC Trojans players to decide whether to stay with the program or take their chances with another team.
Under head coach Lincoln Riley, the Trojans finished fifth in the Big Ten and dropped the Alamo Bowl game against the TCU Horned Frogs in overtime. They went 9-4 overall and 7-2 in the conference. They were unbeaten at home (7-0) but struggled massively on the road (2-3).
The program will also use the transfer portal to bolster the roster. With that in mind, let’s look at the players who are planning to transfer, are expected to transfer, or have entered the transfer portal.

USC Players Who Have Entered Transfer Portal
As of Tuesday, 14 players from the Trojans are either planning to enter or have already entered the transfer portal. They are as follows:
- Walker Lyons (TE)
- Devan Thompkins (DL)
- DJ Jordan (WR)
- Bryan Jackson (RB)
- Braylon Conley (CB)
- Prince Strachan (WR)
- Harry Dalton (RB)
- Garrison Madden (LB)
- Micah Banuelos (IOL)
- Matai Tagoa’i (LB)
- Carlon Jones (DL)
- Anthony Beavers Jr. (LB)
- Stephen Miller (S)
- Makai Saina (IOL)
Walker Lyons entered the portal for better opportunities. Thompkins, meanwhile, is seeking a better opportunity at another Power 5 program despite being one of USC’s most productive defensive linemen (31 tackles).
DJ Jordan’s playing time was limited in a room too deep, while it was hard for Jackson to get featured opportunities with emerging talent like King Miller. After transferring to USC from Boise State, Strachan struggled for snaps and opportunities with USC, while former four-star recruit linebacker Matai Tagoa’i could only get opportunities on special teams.
USC Top Transfer Portal Arrivals
Despite the departures, USC isn’t standing still as Lincoln Riley & Co. have received commitments from the transfer portal:
- Carrington Pierce (DB from Oklahoma State)
- Deven Bryant (LB from Washington)
- Terrell Anderson (WR from NC State)
Sophomore Anderson was a four-star recruit, redshirt sophomore Bryant was a three-star recruit and Pierce, another sophomore, was also a three-star recruit.
