“Said A Prayer For That Family”: OSU National Champ Urban Meyer Shares Sympathy For Sherrone Moore Amid Cheating Allegations

Sherrone Moore’s scandal at Michigan has shaken the world of football. Up until last week, Moore was the head coach of one of the top programs in the nation and a key member of the coaching staff that brought the latest national championship to Ann Arbor.

That all came crashing down when the University of Michigan decided to dismiss Moore in the wake of an investigation that revealed an improper relationship between the coach and a staffer. While that would’ve been enough to derail any career, what followed seemed out of a Hollywood blockbuster.

On the same day of his dismissal, Sherrone Moore was detained by local police while breaking and entering the victim’s residence. He now faces up to six years in prison, and he only came out of prison on a steep $25,000 bond with very restrictive conditions, which require him to stay in-state and to wear a GPS tracker. Further allegations of improper behavior, like him allegedly offering Michigan season tickets to OnlyFans models in exchange for a foursome, have come out.

When one stops to think about it, it’s an incredible reversal of fortunes that has to have a huge impact on Moore’s family. This is what former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer focused on during Sunday’s edition of the “Triple Option” podcast. Leaving the scandal of it all aside, this is the kind of situation that can wreck a family:

“Last night I said a prayer for that family. I mean, you’ve got three little girls. You got a guy who was on top of the world a week ago… Rivalry’s aside, this is all human element now. This is something that, from what you read… That’s some serious stuff that went on, and all of a sudden you start seeing the impact. Forget football. Who cares about football?,” said Meyer (10:17)

What Are The Charges Sherrone Moore is Facing?

Sherrone Moore faces one felony charge and two misdemeanors. Home invasion is his gravest offense, the felony, and he also faces two counts of misdemeanors: Breaking and entering, and stalking.

The coach was released on a $25,000 bond and has to wear a GPS tracker. He’s also mandated to stay inside the state of Michigan, and he’s prohibited from approaching the victim.
