Dan Lanning and his Oregon Ducks head into the 2025 season as one of the favorites to win the national championship. However, on the latest episode of “The Triple Option” podcast, former player Urban Meyer and his crew identified the only threat to the Ducks’ playoff push.
In a video clip posted on the show’s Instagram account on Monday, Rob Stone, Mark Ingram II, and Meyer discussed Oregon’s schedule for the upcoming campaign and whether the Ducks can go over their win total of 10.5.
All three agreed that Oregon would rack up consecutive wins against Montana, Oklahoma, and Northwestern to start the season. Looking at Oregon’s schedule, Meyer said:
“This is a good schedule for Oregon. I’m looking at this thing.”
Ingram and Meyer opined that the Ducks’ real test will come when they lock horns with the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road on Sept. 27. They suggested that the said game was a toss-up between the two powerhouses.
“0.5 right now,” Ingram answered when asked about the Oregon vs. Penn State game.
Stone asked Meyer if he agreed with Ingram.
“Agree. And that’s it,” Meyer replied.

Stone shared his thoughts about Oregon, saying that the Ducks have been perennial winners under Lanning since he took over as the head coach in 2022. They have won a total of 35 games in the last three seasons, prompting Stone to call Lanning “elite.”
