Urban Meyer Sends Off-Beat Advice To Indiana Star Fernando Mendoza Over NFL Draft Future: “Make A Bunch Of Money”

Former Ohio State head coach and media personality Urban Meyer, in a recent conversation with NFL insider Dan Dakich, revealed what Indiana Hoosiers’ star quarterback Fernando Mendoza should do next season, and no, it’s not joining the NFL.

Meyer, in his conversation with Dakich, said Mendoza is not ready for the NFL, and another year of playing could be beneficial for him as a player.

He backed his statement while citing how historically in the NFL, college football players don’t just go out there and start, and it involves a lot of learning.

He also cited how some players like Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love are exceptions to this rule, and it’s very rare to get immediate success in the league.

However, Meyer suggested an alternative plan to the Heisman favorite, advising him to come back to college football for one more year and make a lot of money. He also suggested how college football players will make more money in their time in college as opposed to playing in the NFL.

“I think Mendoza should come back for one more year, make a bunch of money and go again. I think every quarterback should stay,” Meyer Stated (0:57).

They’re going to make more in college than they’re making in the NFL,” he further elaborated (1:11).

Despite Meyer suggesting an additional college football play for the Indiana junior, Mendoza is already the top Heisman contender, whilst a lot of NFL drafts also have him as a top 10 overall pick.
