The Colorado Buffaloes, coached by NFL legend Deion Sanders, will look to uncork a better outing in the upcoming college football season. With this, their 2025 roster will be bolstered by the likes of Kaidon Salter, who has transferred to the Buffaloes for his fifth year after spending the last four with the Liberty Flames.
In a recent video on Instagram on Tuesday, July 8, college football analyst JD PicKell then gave his two cents on Salter’s insertion into coach Sanders’, more known as coach Prime, system and overall roster construction.
“Kaidon Salter transferring over from Liberty to Colorado. I think he’s going to win the job in Boulder, which is why we’re having this discussion. My expectation for Kaidon Salter is to keep the fastball for Colorado, the fast. Like what does that look like from a wins and losses perspective? We have the record prediction for Colorado a little bit later in the show. But Colorado, the last two years, been right around a 30 points a game kind of offense,” PicKell explained.
“He’s good enough to do that for you. He is, I mean what he did at Liberty, leading them to New Year’s Six Bowl, he was unconscious that season. Last year, looked a little bit off. I think he has all the tools to keep this Colorado offense humming at that level, and also, I think that there’s a lot of weapons for Colorado in a Joe Williams, Omarion Miller on the perimeter, for him to be surrounded by enough talent to maximize his skillset in this offense,” he added.

The Buffaloes finished with an overall record of 9-3 (7-2, Big 12) in the 2024 season, ending their campaign with a 36-14 loss to the BYU Cougars in the that year’s Valero Alamo Bowl.
JD PicKell Says That Opponents’ Preparations For The Colorado Buffaloes Will Be Different This Year

Later on his video on Instagram on Tuesday, July 8, JD PicKell then doubled down on the kind of positive impact Kaidon Salter can have now that he will be playing for the Colorado Buffaloes in the 2025 season. PicKell asserted that he believes Salter can change how future opponents will prepare for the Buffaloes that now rosters Salter, as opposed to Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur.
“Also, we should say you’re going to have to prep for Colorado in a different way than you were able to before with him playing quarterback. Shedeur Sanders was good with his legs, was a good creator in the pocket. But, like, Kaidon Salter, he’s not just going to create in the pocket, he’ll create, they get north and south, and rip you for a double digit yard gain, maybe more than that with what you do defensively,” PicKell explained.
“So, I’m excited to watch him this year, changes the entire script a little bit for how you prepare for Colorado,” he concluded.
The 2025 college football season officially begins on Friday, Aug. 22, with the Buffaloes playing their first game on Saturday, Aug. 30, against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Folsom Field.
