Investigative sports journalist Pablo Torre is turning up the heat on the University of North Carolina, threatening legal action over their failure to release public records related to Bill Belichick and Jordan Hudson. The ESPN veteran has set a Friday deadline for compliance with his Freedom of Information Act requests.
The dispute erupts as Torre stands firm on his explosive reporting that UNC banned Hudson from football facilities, while the university maintains she remains welcome. With Torre prepared to take the university to court, this scandal threatens to expose the inner workings of college football’s most controversial coaching hire.

Social Media Drama and Legal Threats Escalate North Carolina Rumors
The Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson controversy reached new heights when Hudson briefly posted and then deleted an Instagram story attacking journalist Pablo Torre’s credibility with loaded legal language.
Torre’s reaction to seeing her message filled with terms like “defamatory” and “slanderous” was telling. “My first reaction was to, and I’m not necessarily proud of this, but I did laugh,” Torre said.
Torre interpreted Hudson’s quick deletion as another misstep, explaining how “Jordan Hudson may have accidentally once again placed a rake and jumped on it with both feet.” The deleted post included a screenshot of her text exchange with Airbnb owners, which Torre noted “had really nothing to do with her beef with me on the merits of my credibility.”
The journalist’s confidence stems from his meticulous reporting approach. Torre emphasized his commitment to rigorous investigation.
“I take stupid things seriously when it comes to how we investigate silly things that may seem silly superficially,” Torre said. “I want to find the depth in them. I want to do it rigorously. I will talk to 11 people.”
As a public institution, UNC faces legal obligations regarding transparency that private schools avoid. Torre made this crystal clear.
“When Belichick took a job at a public institution, that is the obligation he stepped into with both feet. Whether he realized it or not, he could have gone to a private school, and he would have been protected.”
The stakes for UNC’s administration couldn’t be higher. Torre has assembled what he calls “an army of eight geo-guessers” and maintains contact with numerous anonymous sources within the program. GeoGuessr, an online video game based on Google Maps, encourages players to triangulate locations based on Google Street View alone.
Torre has said in previous interviews that he wants to use this “army” to track down whether the Ring doorbell footage of Belichick was at Hudson’s home or somewhere similar.
His investigation has already revealed Hudson’s involvement in negotiating Belichick’s Super Bowl commercial appearance, working directly with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

UNC’s carefully worded response attempted damage control but inadvertently confirmed aspects of Torre’s reporting. Rather than flatly denying his claims, they stated Hudson “does not work for us” and “is not involved with us,” while insisting she remains “welcome in the building,” language Torre views as strategic maneuvering.
The university’s handling of multiple public records requests will determine whether this dispute moves to federal court. Torre’s warning was unambiguous.
“If they failed to comply with their legal obligation, thank you for putting the caveat there as precisely as it needs to be. I plan to hold them to account,” he clarified.
With Friday’s deadline looming and Torre’s reputation for thorough investigation at stake, UNC faces a critical decision that could expose the full extent of Hudson’s unprecedented influence within their football program.
