UCLA Pro Day Standouts: Oluwafemi Oladejo, Kain Medrano Boost Draft Stock

Pro days are when college players show their skills to NFL scouts through drills like the 40-yard dash and bench press. They’re important because not everyone gets invited to the NFL Combine, making it a key chance to impress teams.

The UCLA pro day drew strong interest, with much of the league represented. Dan Quinn, Adam Peters, and Lance Newmark, all from the Washington Commanders, were present, along with Eliot Wolf of the New England Patriots. This comes after the Bruins finished under .500 last season.

Who Stood Out at UCLA’s Pro Day?

    1. Oluwafemi Oladejo

Oluwafemi Oladejo once again impressed at UCLA’s pro day on Monday. After standing out at the Senior Bowl and putting together a solid performance at the combine, Oladejo focused on position drills this time due to a lingering calf strain that has limited his preparation for testing.

Despite the injury, Oladejo looked sharp in hoop drills, pass-rush exercises, and off-ball linebacker work. He showed strength and quickness while stacking against the run, reinforcing his versatility. Oladejo began his career at UCLA as a middle and inside linebacker before transitioning to an edge-rushing role this past season.

The Washington Commanders had key team officials at the pro day, paying special attention to Oladejo. He’s lined up for one of his 10 official top-30 visits with the team in Washington. With the Commanders aiming to boost their pass rush, Oladejo could be a candidate when they make their selection at the 29th pick.

    2. Kain Medrano

Kain Medrano chose to keep his strong 4.46-second 40-yard dash result from the NFL Combine, but he also completed the short shuttle in 4.19 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.96 seconds. His value in the upcoming NFL Draft has surged, moving him from a player expected to go undrafted at the start of the season to someone now projected as a mid-round selection.
“Very stress-relieving and surreal at the same time,” Medrano said. “You want to go out and perform the best that you can, and with that 4.46, that was the best that I could perform that day, and it was the best of linebackers.”

Teams are excited about Medrano’s ability to play in different positions, noting how he moves fluidly like a safety despite weighing about 225 pounds. Originally joining UCLA as a wide receiver, Medrano later transitioned to linebacker, and his ongoing development in the role suggests he has tremendous potential for growth.

    3. Ethan Garbers

Ethan Garbers, who dealt with issues from a weak offensive line last season, showed strong passing ability at UCLA’s pro day. He consistently delivered accurate throws, especially on deep passes, which caught the attention of scouts.

UCLA’s pro day put Oladejo, Medrano, and Garbers in the spotlight. Oladejo’s sharp performance in drills turned heads, with the Commanders showing strong interest. Medrano’s impressive speed and versatility boosted his draft stock, while Garbers’ pinpoint deep throws showed he’s ready to take the next step.
