USF HC Looking To Put Navy Disappointment Behind For UAB Matchup
The Blazers entered the 2025 season with a lot of promise since they underwent “massive overhaul” in their roster. Entering this game, they are 3-7.
On the other hand, the Bulls have been on an upward trajectory the last few years. They had a breakthrough campaign last season, posting a 7-6 record before finishing the season with a bowl win under head coach Alex Golesh. This season, they have already matched the wins total as they are 7-3 entering this game.
The Bulls are coming into this game on the back of a disappointing 41-38 loss against Navy. This was their second loss in three games. Ahead of the matchup against UAB, Golesh took responsibility for the losses, saying:
“We turn the page. I think it took everybody getting back on the field Monday to snap out of it. And that’s the challenge, responding to that feeling that you had leaving there (Navy) and getting past that disappointment.
“I’m really encouraged by the response and really encouraged by the fight. As a program, we’re going to be in that situation again. We gave ourselves a chance to be in it twice in a year (at Memphis and Navy), in terms of playing really meaningful football. We didn’t (perform well) and that’s ultimately on me.”
It remains to be seen how the game starts knowing the horrific incident that transpired just hours before the game.
