What Ty Simpson Said About Facing Georgia In SEC Championship Game

Ty Simpson should be confident going into this game. In the regular season, his Alabama was the only team that defeated the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama would like to run the script back and continue its SEC title game domination over Georgia, which is currently 4-0.

Ahead of the SEC championship game, Simpson reflected on the weight of the game against Georgia.

“This is going to be a heavyweight fight,” Simpson said. “Last year, last time we played them, none of that means anything, right? They are going to have a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. And we know what’s at stake, right? This is why you come to Alabama. This is what you dream about as a kid, playing in an SEC championship.”

Simpson also reflected that earning a spot in the conference championship is something the program has deserved, unlike the spot in the playoffs, where it’s largely up to the College Football Playoff committee’s discretion.

“This wasn’t something a committee picked or whoever picked,” Simpson said. “We earned this. We went through a tough schedule to get to this position.”

Overall, Simpson said the key to winning would be to start aggressively and get on the scoreboard as fast as they can.
