“Shows No Faith in DeBoer” “Cleveland It Is’: Fans React As Alabama QB Ty Simpson Announces NFL Draft Decision

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, who acted as the team’s starting quarterback for one season, has announced his decision to declare his name for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Simpson was a backup at Alabama for 2 years and then started as the QB1 in 2025, where he completed  305 of 473 passes, throwing for 3,567 yards, securing 28 touchdowns, and had 5 interceptions in 15 games.

On Wednesday, January 7th, Simpson took to Instagram to bid farewell to his Alabama journey and shared that he was grateful for every single moment spent there while revealing that it’s time to roll now.

“I really don’t think he is ready at all. So Cleveland it is.” one fan reacted.

“People don’t realize it’s actually majorly beneficial to be the 4-6 best QB instead of the 1-3 best. He will go to a better team and have a better opportunity if he’s patient and puts that work in.” another fan said.

“Ty Simpson is NFL ready and will be very successful. If he doesn’t have a career ending g injury he will be listed on the NFL greats in 5-10 years. It’s sad after he waited his turn that Alabama had no running game snd O-line could not block.” another fan wrote.

“One year as a starter. Will be a bust. And shows no faith in DeBoer.” another fan highlighted.

“Who ever is guiding that kid needs to be fired or told to shut up lol. He looked horrible vs Indiana. His draft stock took more hits then he did.” another fan adviced.

“I don’t blame him…..avoids the Arch year in 2027. Best odds to strike this year, imo.” another fan added.

Ty Simpson Opens Up About How Nick Saban Changed His Mind for Not Jumping in the Transfer Portal

The Alabama QB was a 5-star recruit from Martin, Tennessee and was recruited by Nick Saban during his time there.

During his recent appearance on the “Bussin With The Boys”  podcast, Simpson recalled a conversation with Saban that took place a few days before Alabama went against Michigan in the College Football Playoff Semifinals for the 2023 season.

Simpson recalled that Saban told him that he gets if he wanted to leave the team, but said that he knew the Tennessee native and helped him remember what he wanted while getting recruited,

“If you want to create value for yourself, this could be a great story for you. You could leave a legacy here.” Simpson said on the ‘Bussin’ With The Boys.’

Simpson then joked that he had prayed about it and decided Saban was right, only to find out he was retiring.
