Two-Sport Star? EDGE Marco Jones Wows in Baseball Debut at Texas A&M

Could star baseball player and recruit Marco Jones be the key for the Texas A&M Aggies on the gridiron?

In a day and age where two-sport athletes are becoming more and more common, Texas A&M’s Marco Jones is showing what he can do on both the field and the diamond.

    Marco Jones’ Baseball Talents

After graduating early from high school, Jones is getting in his swings for the Aggies’ baseball team before football season starts.

In one of the first baseball games of his collegiate career that took place earlier this week, the four-star defender laced a base hit up the middle.

As insider Ryan Brauninger noted in his social media post of the hit, Jones is a very impressive athlete.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, he has demonstrated an ability to excel at multiple sports.

    Jones’ 2025 Season Outlook

After the baseball season ends, the California native will look to wreak havoc on the gridiron for head coach Mike Elko and Co.

According to 247Sports, Jones was the No. 12 edge rusher in this year’s recruiting class.

In his career at San Ramon Valley High School, he recorded nearly 425 total tackles, 53 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and six interceptions.

It is safe to say that he has the chance to fit in well on a team that was very close to making it to the SEC Championship Game last season.

The rest of the SEC might want to look out if he can reach his potential in College Station.

    The Aggies’ 2025 Season Outlook

Again, Texas A&M was on the doorstep of making it to the SEC title game despite finishing 8-5 overall and 5-3 in conference.

In a critical game at home against the Texas Longhorns down the stretch, the team lost by a score of 17-7. Had they won that game, they would have been in prime position to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the title game.

Despite the loss to rival Texas, it was a successful season by most accounts from Coach Elko in his first season after coming over from coaching the Duke Blue Devils.
