Tulsa Transfer WR Joseph Williams Flips Commitment to Colorado, Pledging to Deion Sanders, Buffaloes Instead of Utah

The Colorado Buffaloes are red-hot in the transfer portal, but swooping in and stealing WR Joseph Williams -- the AAC Freshman of the Year -- hits different.

The Colorado Buffaloes have been red-hot in the transfer portal this offseason. You might say, what else is new, in the Deion Sanders era in Boulder.

However, it takes something special to flip a commitment from a storied program and a historically great coach like Coach Prime just did with former Tulsa WR Joseph Williams.

Joseph Williams Flips to Colorado from Utah

Colorado secured the commitment of their next potential star wide receiver, once again pulling from the depths of the American Athletic Conference. If LaJohntay Wester turned heads in Boulder this season, get ready to know the name: Joseph Williams.

The AAC’s Freshman of the Year, Williams exploded onto the scene as a true freshman this season with the Golden Hurricane. Despite a lackluster passing attack, Williams was able to haul in 30 receptions for 588 yards and five touchdowns.

But it was his per-catch numbers that really deserve the attention. Williams averaged a massive 19.6 yards per reception.

Among receivers with at least 30 catches in 2024, Williams’ 19.6 yards per reception tied him for fifth in the nation.

Standing at 6’2″ and 195 pounds, Williams hails from Mansfield Summit High School in Arlington, Texas, and was a three-star recruit. However, he far out-played his recruiting ranking in 2024 with a lackluster quarterback situation.

It’s safe to say that the sky could be the limit with a better offense and a more solid, consistent quarterback throwing his way in Boulder.
