Trebor Pena Transfer Portal Scouting Report: Where Could the Syracuse WR Transfer?

Trebor Pena became the top-ranked receiver in the entire transfer portal when he left the Syracuse Orange.

The young wide receiver will have one year of eligibility remaining and is expected to land at a top school in the country. Read on to find out which schools could target Pena and why he is so valuable.

Five Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Trebor Pena

Pena grew up in New Jersey, so it makes sense that he committed to Syracuse as a three-star prospect out of high school. In his first year at Syracuse, Pena didn’t see the field, but in 2021 and 2022, he became the starting return man for the Orange.

Pena also racked up 200 yards as a receiver in 2022 before getting hurt for the entirety of the 2023 season. However, in 2024 he finally broke out in Syracuse’s offense with quarterback Kyle McCord. Pena finished with 84 catches for 941 yards and nine touchdowns.

Pena decided to come back for one more year in 2025, leading all ACC receivers in EPA and catch percentage. He now is in the portal and will be highly coveted. Here are the five teams that I think make the most sense to land Pena.

    Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes have reportedly been the team most interested in Pena. I’m not going to sit here and say there might have been some tampering, but Miami desperately needs someone to fill Xavier Restrepo’s role, and I think Pena could do it.

    Penn State Nittany Lions

With Pena being a Jersey kid, I think it would make sense for him to want to stay in the Northeast. Not to mention he’d be the underneath safety blanket that Drew Allar will be missing with Tyler Warren’s departure, so I think this would make sense for both sides.

    Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks just poached Syracuse’s wide receiver coach, Ross Douglas, a couple of months ago. If Pena wants to follow his old coach across the country, then I don’t think the Ducks are out of the question here.

    Texas Tech Red Raiders

Not a lot of schools in the country have deeper pockets than Texas Tech, and the Red Raiders just lost Micah Hudson, so they need receiver help. I think Pena would fit the offense well in Lubbock and could thrive in that system.

    Temple Owls

While it’s not likely that the Owls have deeper pockets than the Orange and that Pena would leave Syracuse to go to Temple, maybe the kid from Jersey just wants to be closer to home. Pena was originally committed to Temple and has a good relationship with their associate general manager, so it’s not out of the question here.
