Travis Hunter’s father has been arrested after allegedly violating the terms of his probation. Travis Hunter Sr. was located in Palm Beach County, Florida, at the time of his arrest. According to his probation officer, Hunter Sr.’s whereabouts were unknown for 11 minutes on June 28. On July 10th, a warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Howard K. Coates.
Travis Hunter Sr.’s probation officer said he was “too far away from his monitoring device to be accurately tracked.”
Hunter Sr. told his probation officer on July 4th that he was “moving too fast and forgot it.”

Travis Hunter’s father was under electronic monitoring due to a three-year probation that stems from gun and drug charges from 2023. He had previously been arrested on charges of “sale or possession of heroin with intent to sell” in 2018. His unknown whereabouts constituted a violation of his “community control” probation status, which led to his arrest.
He was arrested on July 22, and he’s been held without bond. Judge Coates had approved two requests from Travis Hunter Sr. to leave the Palm Beach area. One to attend the NFL Draft in New York this past April, and a second one to attend his son’s wedding in Tennessee in May.
Hunter Sr. had been held at Palm Beach County West Detention Center until December 5th, 2024, where he was serving a 90-day jail sentence. His sentence also includes three years on probation and one year of community control supervision.

Jaguars coach Liam Coen’s plan to prepare Travis Hunter for the 2025 season
Preparing Travis Hunter for his rookie season in the NFL has to be a tall task. Rarely do NFL coaches have to create training plans for two-way starters like Hunter. Adding to that, no player has managed in the modern era to play on both sides of the ball at the level Hunter has. But that’s not a problem for Liam Coen, who seems to have it covered:
“You want to give him a couple days offense, a couple days defense, and then give him an opportunity to go flip-flop within the same practice and then that will kind of become the norm,” Coen said after the Jaguars finished their first workout at the Miller Electric Center adjacent to EverBank Stadium via espn. “… Every moment, every minute that he is in the building, it is accounted for and trying to make sure that we maximize his time, our time so that we can ultimately get the best outcome.”
Hunter famously won the Heisman Trophy being a leading wide receiver and defensive back for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024. Many analysts wondered if an NFL franchise would take the risk of allowing him to play both positions at the professional level. It seems that the Jacksonville Jaguars are willing to do so.
