Colorado Buffaloes’s star two-way player, Travis Hunter, might be the 2025 NFL Draft’s biggest enigma. With debates raging over his two-way ambitions and his firmness on playing both offense and defense in the NFL, the biggest question as he heads into his rookie season is not whether he’ll be good but at which position the cornerback and wide receiver will end up playing.
NFL general managers and coaches picking near the top of the draft have weighed in on the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, with opinions differing throughout the league. On April 24, Hunter will officially be drafted, likely in the top five. But the question until then—where will he land?

Where Could Travis Hunter Be Drafted?
Draft stock is high for last year’s Heisman winner, with most mock drafts projecting Hunter going in the first five picks, including College Football Network’s Three-Round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, which projects the Colorado star landing with the New York Giants at third overall.
CFN’s Top 300 Big Board marks Hunter as the top player in the draft, with the only big question mark on which side of the ball he’ll play on.

“While Hunter’s fluid mobility, ball skills, and elite athleticism translate best at corner, he has the skill set to see 10-20 snaps on the offensive side of the ball. Hunter quite literally makes plays that no other player can, and playing two positions didn’t cap his output either (74-911-9 receiving line; three INTs and eight PBUs),” CFN’s James Fragoza wrote.
Pro Football Focus Predicts Hunter Landing in New York
A post-2025 NFL Scouting Combine mock draft by Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema sees Joe Schoen’s New York Giants opting for Hunter over fellow Buffalo teammate quarterback Shadeur Sanders.
With both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll on the hot seat, it’s likely the Giants could trade up to No. 1 overall for their preferred quarterback. Instead, Sikkema opted to pair Hunter with the Giants’ star wide receiver, Malik Nabers.
