‘I Got a Lot of Insight’ – Travis Hunter Drops His Verdict on Deion Sanders Leaving Colorado Rumors

Travis Hunter spoke candidly about Coach Prime and the status of the rumors of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders jumping to the NFL in 2025.

2024 Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter, shut down rumors that Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders might move to another program before the 2025 season.

Sanders rounded up his second season with the Buffs with a strong 9-3 record. Prior to his arrival at Colorado, the Buffs went 1-11, and within two years Coach Prime transformed them from a struggling team to fearsome contenders. As rumors of Sanders seeking coaching opportunities elsewhere spread through the media, Hunter hit the gavel, restoring order with a strong statement.

‘He Ain’t Going Nowhere’ – Travis Hunter Ends Deion Sanders Rumors

Coach Prime’s success at Boulder brought heavy media attention to the program and to Sanders as well. Sanders has repeatedly dismissed the idea of him leaving the Buffs, but that has done nothing to stop fans and analysts talking about it. When queried by reporters shortly before the Heisman ceremony, Hunter gave a firm reply.

“I got a lot of insight. He ain’t going nowhere. He’s going to be right where he’s at right now,” Hunter said.

Colorado’s Travis Hunter Confirms That He Will Play in Upcoming Alamo Bowl Game

Sanders and Hunter have a strong relationship that goes beyond the sport of football. Hunter has followed Sanders’ guidance and evolved into one of the best college football players in the nation. He followed Coach Prime from Jackson State to Colorado, making waves at each stop.

Under Sanders’ leadership, Hunter has been able to embrace his status as a two-way player. The wide receiver/cornerback has been a key factor in Colorado’s resurgence, and despite his team not making it to the Big 12 Championship Game, Hunter’s skill was recognized and rewarded with the envied Heisman Trophy.

Hunter has expressed his intention to enter the 2025 NFL Draft and is projected to be a top-five pick, potentially No. 1. Despite this, he will not be taking the traditional path of skipping bowl games to avoid injury and prepare for the draft. Rather, Hunter insists that he will play in the Alamo Bowl as he owes it to his coach and mentor.

“It’s definitely important because, you know, I started this thing with Coach Prime and Shedeur (Sanders) and most of the coaches on the coaching staff, so I want to finish it off right,” Hunter said. “I didn’t give them a full season my first year, so I’m going to go ahead and end this thing off right.”

“It’s going to be our last game together, so I’m going to go out there and dominate and show the loyalty that I have for him.”
