‘GENERATIONAL’ — Travis Hunter Delivers Bold Post Leading Up to NFL Draft

With the NFL Draft less than 72 hours away, prospects are getting ready, and teams are locking in on their targets. Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter is one of the biggest names in this year’s draft class and is widely considered to be the most skilled player, excelling on both sides of the ball.

However, the 2025 Heisman Trophy winner isn’t without critics and haters. Some people believe he’s overrated. Some even think he’s not good or talented enough to play both sides of the ball in the league. What did the future NFL star post on social media ahead of the draft?

Travis Hunter Fires Back at Doubters With Emotional Message Ahead of NFL Draft.

On Sunday, April 20, Hunter took to his Instagram page and appeared to address any critics of him as a player. He posted a picture of himself smiling with all the trophies he earned last season and captioned it, “He’s not the best WR. He’s not the best DB. He’s OVERRATED. GENERATIONAL.”

The Heisman Trophy isn’t Hunter’s only accolade from last season. He also won the Biletnikoff Award for the best receiver in the nation and the Chuck Bednarik Award for the defensive player of the year.

Hunter has been the center of debates among football insiders and analysts about how teams should best use his incredible talents while protecting their assets. Hunter himself has been adamant about wanting to play both offense and defense.

“They say nobody has ever done it for real, the way that I do it. But I tell them I’m just different, I’m a different person,” Hunter said at the NFL Combine. “I know I can do it.”

Hunter played more than 90% of Colorado’s offensive and defensive snaps, according to the school. He finished top five for receptions and receiving touchdowns in the nation and was 14th for pass deflections.

“There’s an argument for him as the No. 1 overall pick, whatever position you want, which is kind of insane,” said Connor Rogers, an NBC Sports NFL draft analyst. “We always love the cliché of keeping a coordinator up all night.

“The fact that Hunter can legitimately do that on both ends of the ball, not just be average at one and great at another, is pretty, pretty unique stuff,” he stated.

Wherever Hunter lands, the coaching staff’s vision will determine where he ultimately plays. Even though Hunter has been adamant about his preference, the coaching staff holds the final opinion and they will decide what’s in the best interest of the team.
