Top Committed Players in the Transfer Portal

Dillon Thieneman, S (Oregon)

Former CSN Freshman of the Year and All-American safety Dillon Thieneman has entered the transfer portal following head coach Ryan Walters’ dismissal. Renowned for his commanding presence as a true free safety, Thieneman has also proven his versatility by excelling near the line of scrimmage.

With his three-down abilities and a knack for making game-changing plays, Thieneman was set to be one of the most coveted defenders in this year’s transfer cycle—until he wrapped up his portal journey early, committing to the Oregon Ducks just 10 days after entering.

Conner Weigman, QB (Houston)

Once touted as an NFL Draft prospect, Conner Weigman’s time at Texas A&M was marred by injuries and bad luck. Now, the talented signal-caller is searching for a fresh start.

Weigman is likely eyeing a one-year opportunity with a program that can reignite his draft stock and provide the platform to showcase his potential. He found that opportunity quickly with the Houston Cougars.

Dane Key, WR (Nebraska)

Arguably one of Kentucky’s premier players over the past two seasons, Dane Key saw his production dip in 2024 due to less-than-stellar quarterback play. Despite the statistical slowdown, his NFL Draft potential remains unmistakable.

A shift to a program that emphasizes a timing-based offense—or at the very least, a quarterback who can truly tap into his skills—was crucial for Key to unlock his full potential. That opportunity presented itself with Dylan Raiola and the crew over at Nebraska.

Miller Moss, QB (Louisville)

One of the portal’s most high-profile names, former USC starting QB Miller Moss chose to transfer after being benched in favor of Jayden Maiava. Despite the change, his move seemed more like USC honoring previous commitments than a true reflection of his abilities.
Boasting extensive experience and two years of development under Caleb Williams, Moss brings a valuable skill set to Louisville. Much like Weigman, he’s expected to use a one-year stop with the Cardinals as a springboard to capitalize on his talent and make his mark in the NFL.

Xavior Gray/Jordan White, OL (Northwestern/Vanderbilt)

This duo is a package deal worth highlighting. Whether transferring together or separately, Xavior Gray and Jordan White were set to elevate any offensive line they joined.
Gray stands out as a physical force in the run game, anchored by a solid foundation in pass protection. In contrast, White is a rare, well-rounded talent who excels in both areas without missing a beat. Both quickly found new homes in the portal—Gray with Northwestern and White with Vanderbilt.

Who Can Enter the Transfer Portal?

Under current rules, student-athletes must enter the NCAA Transfer Portal to be eligible for permissible contact with other schools or to explore transfer opportunities. To compete immediately at their new school, they must still meet transfer exception requirements and maintain academic eligibility.

Any player with remaining eligibility can enter the portal, but there are specific rules regarding multiple entries, timing, and other factors.

When Can Athletes Enter the Transfer Portal?

Athletes looking to enter the transfer portal must first notify their school, which then informs the NCAA. Although athletes can announce their plans to transfer at any time, undergraduate athletes won’t officially appear in the portal until their sport’s designated transfer window opens.

The transfer portal window for the spring is listed here:
