The winter transfer portal opened Wednesday, releasing chaos throughout the college football landscape yet again. Several tight ends hit the portal on day one, including Rutgers’ Matthew Ogunniyi, Indiana’s Sam West, and Coastal Carolina’s Zack Zandier. On day two, we saw even more chaos.
Here’s everyone who hit the transfer portal on Thursday.

College Football Transfer Portal Day 2: Key Tight End Departures
Jack Endries — California (committed to Texas)
Endries entered the portal on Wednesday as the top tight end prospect, after a season with the Golden Bears where he racked up over 600 yards on 56 receptions and was crowned the second-best returning tight end in the nation by PFF.
With two years of eligibility remaining, and Texas losing tight end Amari Niblack to cross-town rival Texas A&M and Gunnar Helm slated to be picked towards the end of day two or start of day three in the 2025 NFL Draft, Endries should be the top target for quarterback Arch Manning.
Tanner Koziol — Wisconsin (committed to Houston)
Koziol, who committed to the Badgers in December from Ball State after pulling in 94 receptions for 839 yards and eight touchdowns, reentered the portal to go to Houston. Originally a three-star recruit, the 6’6”, 230-pounder found his spot in Muncie, Indiana. Now, he’ll get a shot in the Big 12.
Grayson Barnes — Northern Illinois
The 6’5”, 225-pound Barnes hits the portal with senior eligibility, though he only played two whole years at Northern Illinois. The California native hauled 31 catches for 338 yards and four touchdowns in 2024, a slight decline from his 23 receptions for 422 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.
Austin Samaha — Texas State
Samaha didn’t see any play time for the Bobcats after two seasons at East Texas A&M, where he combined for 19 receptions and 254 yards. The 6’2” Texas native hits the portal with freshman eligibility.
