Texas High School QB Visits OSU, Leaves Impressed

The Buckeyes just hosted Bentley, the Celina Bobcats’ star QB. The signal-caller had the chance to experience the program first-hand, which surely left quite an impression on him.

“Seeing the top of the food chain, the champs… Really good talking to all of the coaches and spending time with quarterbacks. Got to see exciting things the school, city, and program offers.” Bentley said.

The 6’2’’ and 200-pounder was a Navy All-American Game participant and led the Bobcats to a 16-0 season and a state title last year. Starting his career as a skill player, Bentley has transformed into a dynamic dual-threat QB. In 2024, he had 63 total touchdowns with 4,200 total yards. He ran for 933 yards and completed 171 of 245 passes for 3,211 yards with 47 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The 2026 recruiting class seems short of elite QB prospects, with only Jared Curtis making the top-five list. This has prompted college programs to aggressively pursue the top four-star QBs. Among those is Bentley, ranked 47th overall in the 2026 class by On3. However, the Celina native continues to rise in rankings as more programs intensify their pursuit of him.

Bentley is in the middle of a spring visit that took him to the Oklahoma Sooners, LSU Tigers, and Buckeyes and will visit the Florida State Seminoles (March 22) and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (March 29). The competition for this coveted prospect is bound to be fierce.

Ultimately, his decision will likely hinge on two factors: the allure of NIL opportunities and coach relationships.
