The Top Hurricanes Players Returning to the Team This Fall

Even though veteran quarterback Carson Beck is headed to Miami, that isn’t even the best part.

Here are the top players coming back to play for head coach Mario Cristobal.

    10. Jordan Lyle (RB)

The Hurricanes are bringing back plenty of talent, especially at running back.

Soon-to-be sophomore Jordan Lyle put up 400 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his first year and will be looking to be more than just a role player in 2025.

    9. Joshisa Trader (WR)

After catching just six passes for 91 yards and a touchdown as a backup in his freshman season, Trader will be looking to emerge as a top receiver for Carson Beck.

His elite speed could come in nicely, as well.

    8. Elijah Lofton (TE)

A lot like Trader, Lofton had an up-and-down season as a freshman.

He caught just nine passes for 150 yards and a touchdown for then-starter Cam Ward.

Look for the 6’3″ big man to make a bigger impact through the air in yet another pass-happy offense.

    7. Rueben Bain Jr. (DL)

Bain has recorded 67 total tackles and 11 total sacks across the last two seasons for the Hurricanes.

His 7.5 sacks as a freshman let fans know that he could be a force.

Now, he needs to be that again if he wants to help the Hurricanes make it to the College Football Playoff.

    6. Markel Bell (OT)

Bell will be a key protector for Beck, who came to Miami partially because he wanted to be better protected.

The 6’9″, 340-pound tackle will be in charge of protecting the edge from pesky pass-rushers as he hopes to give his veteran quarterback all the time that he needs.

    5. Akheem Mesidor (DL)

The 24-year-old Canadian native is one of the more fascinating players in college football.

He is about to enter his sixth college football season and is coming off a career-best 5.5 sacks.

Look for him to wreak havoc on the interior all Fall long, especially if he follows what his experience has taught him.

    4. Mark Fletcher Jr. (RB)

Mark Fletcher Jr. will be running the show in the backfield behind Beck.

After recording over 700 total yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore, the Fort Lauderdale native needs the ball in his hands this year.

He has a chance to be one of the best threats in the ACC in 2025.

    3. Wesley Bissainthe (LB)

A Miami native, Bissainthe is one of the leaders of Cristobal’s defense and is about to step into his senior season.

After recording close to 60 tackles, multiple sacks, and an interception, he will take command of the middle of the defense and hope to disrupt offensive game plans every week.

    2. Damari Brown (DB)

If you look at Brown’s numbers, you will likely wonder why he is on this list.

After showing strides as a freshman in 2023 (10 solo tackles), he had an injury-shortened 2024 season.

With his 6’2″ frame, he has the chance to be a very underrated part of this Miami defense if he can remain healthy in 2025.

    1. OJ Frederique Jr. (CB)

Frederique Jr. could very well be the most valuable defender on the team because he is such a lockdown cornerback.

Despite being a little lighter at 180 pounds, he found a way to record seven pass deflections and an interception last season.
