The first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft have seen some dramatic headlines. Most of the drama has surrounded the quarterbacks, those who have been taken, and one in particular who hasn’t come off the board in the first two days of the Draft.
Heading into Day 3, there is plenty of talent still available in one premium offensive skill position, the running back. Just two were taken on Round One – Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty by the Las Vegas Raiders and North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton by the Los Angeles Chargers.
Just four backs followed on Day 2 – the Ohio State duo of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson were snapped up early in the second round by the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots, before UCF’s R.J. Harvey was selected by the Denver Broncos at No. 60.
Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Round 3 to make six backs taken overall.
Who will be the next to be selected on Day 3?

Several Top Running Backs Remain Undrafted Heading Into Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft
1) Cam Skattebo, Arizona State
Cam Skattebo’s sensational performances for Arizona State in high pressure games will have alerted NFL GMs looking for an impact pick on Day 3. Skattebo racked up 242 total yards of offense and three touchdowns in the Peach Bowl against Texas, also throwing for a 42-yard touchdown.
In the Big 12 Conference Championship game, he rushed for three touchdowns and 170 yards against Iowa State.
2) Dylan Sampson, Tennessee
The University of Tennessee’s ten-win season was anchored by Sampson’s breakout year, where he ran in a school record 22 touchdowns and a career-high 1,491 yards, averaging 114.6 yards per game and 5.7 yards per carry.
His hamstring injury at the NFL Combine may have dropped him down the pecking order in the eyes of some, but he represents tremendous value as a Day 3 pick.
3) Trevor Etienne, Georgia
Trevor Etienne, the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguar running back Travis Etienne, had an impressive college career with Clemson before moving to Georgia, where he scored 23 touchdowns and ran for 2,081 rushing yards.
A rib injury and one-game suspension meant his 2024 season lost a little momentum for the draft, but he has pedigree and would be a useful late-round addition.
4) Devin Neal, Kansas
Neal broke the University of Kansas records, rushing for 16 touchdowns and 1,266 rushing yards in the 2024 season. Having played four seasons for Kansas, he offers NFL teams a powerful back with excellent balance and is dangerous when he gets into the open field.
5) DJ Giddens, Kansas State
The Wildcat’s junior ran for 1,343 yards in 2024, having set a school single-season record by averaging 6.55 yards per carry on the back of a breakout season in 2023.

Giddens is a workhorse of a back who puts his body on the line and can add some beef to the offense with some fearless blocking.
