Jacksonville State Players To Miss the New Orleans Bowl

Credit must be given to the entire Jacksonville State program, coaching staff, fans, and players themselves. Not a single player from JSU has announced their intentions to enter the portal and as of just hours before game day, none have entered the portal.

We’re set to see a full team from the Gamecocks against Louisiana in the New Orleans Bowl as they look to continue their historic first season in style at the FBS level.

Jacksonville State players expected to miss New Orleans Bowl:

  • None

Louisiana Players To Miss the New Orleans Bowl

Credit is also deserved for the Louisiana coaching staff. At a time in which Power Five programs are losing control of their roster, like JSU, the Louisiana staff has kept their roster relatively intact.

Only two defensive players have entered the portal since we last saw the Ragin’ Cajuns, both from the defensive side of the ball.

The offense should be running like a well-oiled machine come the New Orleans Bowl, but the defense will have to find a replacement for Kendre’ Gant, the team’s leader in tackles for loss.

Gant was a force for the Louisiana defense in 2023, finishing with multiple highlight-reel plays in every facet.

The Cajuns have a deep roster, but the talent that Gant possessed at and around the line of scrimmage will be sorely missed.

Louisiana players expected to miss New Orleans Bowl:

  • Cejae Ceasar, S (transfer portal)
  • Kendre’ Gant, LB (transfer portal)
