Georgia Southern Players to Miss the Myrtle Beach Bowl

For the second straight season, the transfer portal has hit the Georgia Southern secondary rather hard. This season, the Eagles lost both Jalen Denton and Chris Crouch from their secondary rotation.

Other than that, the Eagles miss very little in terms of opting out from the portal. QB Beau Allen didn’t log a snap in 2023 and in reality, only Denton played more than a single game from their opt-outs. Denton had an interception and a pass breakup to go with a handful of tackles in seven outings.

Georgia Southern players expected to miss Myrtle Beach Bowl:

    • Jalen Denton, S (transfer portal)
    • Beau Allen, QB (transfer portal)
    • Myles Winslow, DL (transfer portal)
    • Chris Crouch, S (transfer portal)

Ohio Players to Miss the Myrtle Beach Bowl

It’ll be a new-look offense for the Bobcats against Georgia Southern. Without the talented Kurtis Rourke at quarterback, that’s just the tip of the iceberg regarding changes you can expect to see in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.

Also out will be running backs Sieh Bangura and O’Shaan Allison. The duo of Bangura and Allison combined for 317 carries, over 1,200 yards, and 10 total touchdowns on the ground in 2023.

Also out will be Tyler Walton (37 receptions, 349 yards, 2 TDs) and Miles Cross (47 receptions, 617 yards, 5 TDs) from the receiving corps.

Backup QB Parker Navarro and Co. will bring a new-look offense to Myrtle Beach, while the loss of Keye Thompson might actually be worse for the Bobcats’ prospectus. Thompson is a true three-down linebacker and, next to Bryce Houston, was the heartbeat of the Ohio defense this past season.

Ohio players expected to miss Myrtle Beach Bowl:

    • Demond Arter, iOL (transfer portal)
    • Alec Burton, TE (transfer portal)
    • Keye Thompson, LB (transfer portal)
    • Tristan Cox, DL (transfer portal)
    • Caden Campoliete, LB (transfer portal)
    • Kurtis Rourke, QB (transfer portal)
    • Sieh Bangura, RB (transfer portal)
    • O’Shaan Allison, RB (transfer portal)
    • Tyler Walton, WR (transfer portal)
