Top 5 Big 12 Heisman Favorites Based on 2025 Betting Odds

The Heisman trophy is the most coveted individual award in all of college sports. Being a Heisman winner puts you into a club of elite players and legends of the game.

All-time, the Big 12 has had 12 winners of the award, with players like Barry Sanders, Robert Griffin, and Baker Mayfield being a few. Just last season, Travis Hunter won the Heisman, adding his name to an already legendary list. These are five Big 12 players who are the favorites to win the award in 2025 based on current betting odds.

Ranking the Big 12’s Top Heisman Contenders Using 2025 Betting Odds

All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook

    1) Sam Leavitt, QB, Arizona State

Sam Leavitt is first on this list with +4000 odds to win the Heisman. That means a $10 bet would net you $400 if he were to win. Leavitt was great at Arizona State last season, throwing for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns. With Cam Skattebo gone to the NFL, Leavitt’s production should jump even more in 2025, and he could certainly win the award under Kenny Dillingham.

    2) Avery Johnson, QB, Kansas State

Avery Johnson comes in at second with +5000 odds to win the award. A $10 bet on Johnson would net $500 if he were to win. Johnson can win the Heisman as he’s an elite dual-threat QB. He threw for 2712 yards last year while running for an additional 605 and scoring 32 total touchdowns. That’s the kind of production that has gotten dual-threat quarterbacks the award in the past.

    3) Kaidon Salter, QB, Colorado

Kaidon Salter has the third-highest Big 12 odds at +8000. A $10 bet on Salter would net you $800. Salter transferred to Colorado after starting the last two years at Liberty. While he had a down year in 2024, in 2023, Salter threw for 2,876 yards and 32 touchdowns while rushing for an additional 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns.

If he has that kind of production at a Power Four school like Colorado, there’s no reason why he wouldn’t be in consideration for the award.

    4) Jalon Daniels, QB, Kansas

Jalon Daniels is tied for the third-highest odds at +8000. A $10 bet on Daniels would also net you $800 if he were to win the award. Daniels is entering his sixth year with the Jayhawks and is coming off his best season, where he threw for 2,454 yards, ran for 439 yards, and scored 20 touchdowns. If he can cut down on the turnovers, as he had 12 interceptions in 2024, and lead Kansas to a good record, I think he could be in contention

    5) Sawyer Robertson, QB, Baylor

Sawyer Robertson has the fifth-highest odds among Big 12 players at +10,000. A $10 bet on Robertson would net you $1,000 if he wins.

Robertson is coming off a great season with the Bears, where he threw for 3,071 yards and 28 touchdowns. If he can get those numbers even higher and put Baylor in college football playoff contention, I don’t see why he couldn’t win the award.
