Jones recently completed his first visit to Ohio State and walked away highly impressed by what he saw in Columbus. The 6’4″, 210-pound defender praised the Buckeyes’ culture and development-focused approach, noting a clear contrast to what other programs offer.
“Usually schools seem pretty similar in what they tell their recruits and stuff. But their fight, their brotherhood, and their developed here, I saw that everywhere. And that’s just something I haven’t seen in the other schools. It’s been mentioned, but that’s something that they live by,” Jones said. “It’s different. I haven’t been to a school like that yet. Just their culture, their motives. They fight. They’re all about development and that’s something I love.”
Longtime Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson was a key influence during Jones’s visit. Johnson’s reputation for producing elite NFL talent, such as the Bosa brothers and Chase Young, resonated with Jones.
“It’s evident that the drafts and all that, that Coach Johnson knows what he’s talking about,” Jones said. “That school knows how to develop and get kids to the NFL and just the powerhouse of D-line that they provide and the violence of the D-line.”
Jones, currently ranked the No. 12 EDGE in the 2027 class, continues to gain momentum. He’s expected to participate in national showcases this offseason, which could elevate him into the top 100 and potentially earn him a fifth star if he continues to build his frame.
The Ridgeline (Utah) standout flashed his competitive fire at recent events, including the UA Next Combine in Ohio and the Polynesian Bowl combine in Las Vegas.
“If I’m not constantly working, other people are passing me up. So any chance I get, go to work. Love that competition with the other boys,” he said.
