Best Prospect Landing Spots From Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft

RB Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars (Round 4, Pick 104)

The Jaguars wasted no time on Day 3 in adding another playmaker to their offense in the speedy Bhayshul Tuten. The former Hokies RB averaged 6.3 yards per carry on his way to amassing 1,159 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.

When Jacksonville still had the fifth overall pick, there was chatter that Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty was on the table, as both Travis Etienne Jr. and Tank Bigsby had issues producing in 2024. They opted to trade up and take the unicorn Travis Hunter, leaving a question mark in the backfield.

While Tuten certainly isn’t a workhorse, he’ll add a different element — speed — alongside Trevor Lawrence that hasn’t consistently been there in his career.

EDGE Jack Sawyer, Pittsburgh Steelers (Round 4, Pick 123)

“Captain” Jack Sawyer and the Steelers organization are a perfect fit, as he’ll blend right into the culture that head coach Mike Tomlin has set.

On the field, Sawyer was always known as someone who could contribute right away in a rotational role for a defensive line. With Pittsburgh, he’ll have the opportunity to do that without too much pressure as he learns and adapts to the pro game.

WR Jalen Royals, Kansas City Chiefs (Round 4, Pick 133)

This has the potential to turn into an absolute steal for the Chiefs, as Royals is one of the most athletic WRs in this draft class. Standing 6-foot-0, 205 pounds, the former Utah State Aggie is terrific with the ball in his hands and will thrive in the underneath game for Kansas City.

Having former Super Bowl MVP QB Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball and head coach and offensive mastermind Andy Reid drawing up concepts for Royals won’t hurt either.

The rich get richer, as the Utah State product has a chance to have a spectacular career donning the red, white, and gold.

RB Jordan James, San Francisco 49ers (Round 5, Pick 147)

A former Oregon Duck, Jordan James is a physical runner and lets his presence be known to opposing defenses. Despite his compact frame at 5-foot-10, 205 pounds, he shows an ability to make defenders miss and certainly isn’t slow in the open field.

Landing with the 49ers is never a bad thing for late-round RB.

An unfortunate reason is that injuries have ravaged the position in recent years and opportunities have come around often for players lower on the depth chart. Head coach Kyle Shanahan doesn’t care if a player is first round or undrafted — he’ll put the best player on the field to spell All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey.

James is an immediate name to watch as a contributor for the 49ers early on, as his running style will likely appeal to 49ers brass.

DT J.J. Pegues, Las Vegas Raiders (Round 6, Pick 180)

The former Ole Miss DT, EDGE, Wildcat QB, RB, and TE can simply be described as a bona-fide playmaker.

At 6-foot-3, 309 pounds, Pegues will be a DT in the pros — but his athleticism is off the charts. During his senior season at Ole Miss, he carried the ball 21 times for 69 yards and scored seven touchdowns while appearing at each of the other positions listed.

The Raiders have a star in Christian Wilkins under contract commanding one of the tackle spots on defense. However, he suffered a foot injury early last season that required season-ending surgery, and reports have said that he may not be ready come 2025.

While it’s unlikely Pegues starts, he could provide much-needed depth along the interior. He was named a CFN All-America Honorable Mention and CFN All-SEC First Team a season ago, so he has some upside of developing into a regular starter for Las Vegas.

RB Damien Martinez, Seattle Seahawks (Round 7, Pick 223)

With the contract uncertainty ahead for RBs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, the Seahawks were wise to pluck Damien Martinez from this deep 2025 RB class.

The former Miami Hurricane is a powerful runner, showing the ability to run through — and over — would-be tacklers. He doesn’t have tremendous straight-line speed, but he showed the ability to make defenders miss at the college level.

Beginning his career with the Oregon State Beavers, Martinez transferred to Miami for his junior season and rushed for 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching 17 passes for 204 yards.

It’s unlikely Seattle brings back both Walker and Charbonnet once their contracts are up following the 2025 and 2026 seasons, respectively, as they’ll likely be too expensive to keep both.

For this upcoming year, Martinez will serve as depth in case of injury while he adjusts to the pro game in preparation for a backup role come 2026 and beyond.
