The College Football Playoff isn’t over yet, but the college football season has wrapped up for the vast majority of colleges around the country. As such, a period of change is unfolding with transfer season getting underway.
Several quarterbacks have already committed elsewhere, while many more could be weighing their options. Here’s a look at quarterbacks to watch, whether they have already committed to move or not. Keep in mind, just because a quarterback has committed, does not mean they are legally required to follow through. Once the stakes are pulled up, any location is theoretically possible.

Top 10 Transfer Portal Quarterbacks To Watch
#10 – Kenny Minchey
According to A to Z Sports in a Monday post, Minchey has committed to join the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Minchey needed a new location after limited work at Notre Dame for three straight seasons. In 2025, Minchey completed 76.9% of his passes, but with only 26 throws, it’s possible to achieve a higher completion percentage with a full season.
#9 – Cutter Boley
Cutter Boley has committed to join Arizona State after two years that didn’t go his way at Kentucky. The quarterback will hope to bounce back from his first starting season, in which he threw for 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
#8 – DJ Lagway
DJ Lagway led the SEC in interceptions, but saw his completion percentage rise from 59.9% in 2024 to 63.2% in 2025. Keep Lagway on your radar, depending on where he could end up landing.
#7 – Aidan Chiles
It didn’t work out at Oregon State, but Aidan Chiles managed to put out some good tape in 2025 after a ten-touchdown, three-interception season. If Chiles goes elsewhere and can get on an already hot offense, the quarterback could make noise in 2026.
#6 – Austin Simmons
Austin Simmons’ Ole Miss Rebels are still in the College Football Playoff, but if Trinidad Chambliss returns in 2026 (highly likely), Simmons will need to go elsewhere. Simmons is relatively untested, but could have learned some tricks from Chambliss he can take with him.
#5 – Deuce Knight
Deuce Knight is relatively untested in college football and as such, he could be a hit or he could be a flop. If he’s a hit, wherever he goes will end up with a sudden surge to put them on the map.
#4 – Sam Leavitt
Sam Leavitt has had an impressive touchdown-interception ratio in each of his last two years. However, his 2025 output was a downgrade from 2024. If he chooses to go somewhere fresh and can get back to his 2024 numbers and elevate thanks to his added experience, he has a chance to make an NFL resume.
#3 – Brendan Sorsby
Brendan Sorsby has only gotten better over the last three years, throwing for a career-high 27 touchdowns and five interceptions. With Sorsby moving to Texas Tech after the playoff-caliber roster earned a bye but failed to score in the playoffs, the school could be already on the short list of playoff teams in 2026.
#2 – Byrum Brown
Byrum Brown had an unconventional 2024 season, to say the least. However, sans that, Brown has been explosive in 2023 and 2025, throwing for a combined 54 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in those two years. If he exits and goes elsewhere, look out.
#1 – Josh Hoover
Josh Hoover has consistently gotten better every season with Texas Christian. With Hoover moving to join the Indiana Hoosiers one season after the Hoosiers’ deep playoff run, you can pencil them in to get deep into January once again. Hoover threw for 29 touchdowns in 2025.
