Bill Belichick’s time at the University of North Carolina is already shaping up to have some high drama. The storied coach found himself in a weird position this week. A former Tar Heel star, Drake Maye, was wildly successful in his game for the New England Patriots. Universally, the school would want to commemorate the success of its alumni.
However, there were reports that Belichick had come down hard on his staff not to put anything about the Patriots. Social media watched in anticipation. After a long pause and seemingly a lot of social media pressure, UNC finally provided a highlight. The stint quickly lit up social media, where it was all football fans reacting on X with hilarious memes.

Drake Maye Shines with Game-Winning Performance Against Buffalo
The conflict stems from Belichick’s messy divorce from the Patriots organization. After decades of success, his departure was not smooth. His relationship with owner Robert Kraft has been notably tense. This bitterness has apparently followed him to Chapel Hill.
According to a report by Ross Martin of 247Sports, Belichick laid down a clear rule. His staff at UNC was not to tweet or re-tweet anything related to the Patriots. This mandate reportedly extends to banning Patriots scouts from campus.
At the same time, Drake Maye was outstanding versus the Buffalo Bills, completing 22 of 30 attempts for 276 yards, no turnovers, and most significantly, leading a game-winning drive in the dying moments.
