Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s partnership resulted in a dynasty of the New England Patriots in the NFL. The duo delivered six Super Bowl titles while they were together. So, there’s no one better to ask than Brady about what it’s like to play under Belichick, who will be making his college football debut as the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2025 season.
Appearing on the Joel Klatt Show, Brady spoke highly of Belichick’s ability to develop players and derive excellence out of them.
“If you go to that school, you will be prepared to play at the next level,” Brady said (10:00). “He’s going to teach you the right fundamentals, the right techniques. He’s going to have a high expectation for you, and you’re going to develop a lot. That’s what I know.”
The former Patriots quarterback, who is worth $300 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, also spoke about the unique challenges Belichick will face while transitioning from NFL to college football.
“I think the challenge for him is he’s dealing with a lot of probably underdeveloped players because he’s dealt with guys that are four, five, or six years further along than what he’s normally had to deal with,” Brady added. “So I think there’s probably a learning curve for him… I’m sure it’s different coaching a 17- or 18-year-old than even a 22- or 23-year-old. They’re just probably less physically developed, and he’s a very deep thinker of the sport.”

Tom Brady Statue Unveiled at Gillette Stadium With a Bill Belichick Twist
Before the Patriots’ preseason opener, they honored their legendary quarterback by unveiling a towering bronze statue. The 17-foot-tall statue, which has a granite base, was sculpted by artist Jeff Buccacio and will serve as a nod to Brady’s storied career in New England.
Brady attended the ceremony and delivered a humorous speech while taking jabs at Jets fans.
“In the end, this statue isn’t just for Pats fans,” he said. “It’ll also give Jets fans something to throw beers at as they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the second quarter. Maybe the third.”
Even his former head coach, Bill Belichick, made a cameo, though, virtually. During his remarks, Brady paused as if interrupted by a call from Belichick, joking that his old coach remarked, “There’s still room for improvement.”
