The South Carolina Gamecocks won more games in a season since 2017 last season, and a lot of the team’s success can be attributed to the great play by QB LaNorris Sellers.
Sellers has caught the eye of plenty of scouts and analysts with his play, especially draft analyst Todd McShay. With the upcoming sophomore Gamecocks signal-caller likely declaring for the 2027 NFL Draft, here’s what the draft analyst had to say about Sellers’ tape.

LaNorris Sellers Catches Todd McShay’s Attention With 2024 Game Film
Prominent NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay recently revealed how high he is on South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers and his college accolades, so far.

“I’m keeping a close eye on this guy this year because his best tape is better than everybody else’s best tape.” In all honesty, it is hard to find a better compliment from a draft expert than that.
McShay has been studying college players’ films for decades, so he is one of the true experts on future success at the next level. Saying this about a 19-year-old kid speaks volumes about what Sellers’s ceiling could be moving forward.
Sellers took home the 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year Award after taking the conference by storm. He led the team to eight wins, completed nearly 65% of his passes, and recorded a total of 24 touchdowns to just seven interceptions.
While his 6’3″, 245-pound frame might grab headlines, his efficiency and talent as a playmaker from both inside and outside of the pocket are what scouts and analysts are loving right now.
The fact that he was able to play this well as a freshman in arguably the best conference in America for a team that had not won more than three games in conference in four of the previous five seasons just goes to show you what kind of player he is.

It will now be interesting to see if head coach Shane Beamer, Sellers, and Co. can reach 10 or more wins this upcoming season.
If they can do just that, they might be able to wiggle their way into the College Football Playoff. To do that, they will likely need to pick up some significant wins over teams like LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, and/or Clemson at the end of the year.
