Deion Sanders had a legendary football career both at the college level and at the professional level. Now, he’s looking to build his legacy as a coach with the Colorado Buffaloes. However, a few years ago, Sanders found out he was sharing the all-time interception top spot with Lee Corso.
At a glance, Sanders and Corso might not seem to have a whole lot in common. Sanders, 55, is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His brash attitude and legendary athleticism made him one of the cornerbacks in NFL history.
Corso, 87, is a beloved longtime ESPN analyst known for donning mascot headgear to emphasize his picks on “College GameDay.”

Deion Sanders Reacts to Sharing FSU Interception Record With Lee Corso in Throwback Clip
In a throwback moment, Sanders was shocked to learn he’s tied with Lee Corso on Florida State’s all-time INT list.
Despite the age difference, Sanders and Corso have a lot of football in common. Sanders is a coach at Colorado, where Corso served as a coach at Louisville and Indiana before a stint in the original USFL.

Dig just a little bit deeper, you’ll quickly see that both men were standout players at Florida State. Sanders was a two-time consensus All-American cornerback in the 1980s. Corso was a versatile two-way player for the Seminoles in the 1950s, earning an honorable mention All-American recognition as a halfback as a senior.
With “College Gameday” at Jackson State, the school Sanders used to coach at before he went to Colorado, host Rece Davis revealed a piece of statistical symmetry between Sanders and Corso.
Sanders appeared amazed when Davis told him that he and Corso are tied for third in Florida State history with 14 career interception.
“You’re joking,” Sanders said on “College GameDay.” “Are you kidding me? … But you know what? That means they didn’t throw at me!”
Indeed, Corso intercepted 14 passes as Seminoles defender from 1953-1956. Sanders likewise recorded 14 picks as a Florida State player from 1985-88.

Terrell Buckley holds the Florida State school record with a whopping 21 interceptions in just three seasons from 1989-91. Monk Bonasorte ranks second with 15 picks from 1977-80.
Now, Sanders looks to continue his success in turning around the Colorado Buffaloes football program. In order to continue this goal, Sanders will have to do that without both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter who found their way to the NFL as a part of the 2025 NFL Draft.
