The Miami Hurricanes took down defending champions Ohio State Buckeyes, 24-14, in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal. Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer became the subject of jokes among fans as he earlier predicted the complete opposite.
Appearing on Colin Cowherd’s The Herd, Meyer said Miami couldn’t even score against the Buckeyes and that it will take only a touchdown for Ohio State to win the CFP quarterfinal.
“I don’t think they can [Miami move the ball on Ohio State],” Meyer said. “Unless Ohio State does something very uncharacteristic and turns the ball over a few times, I don’t see how they, I just don’t see Miami driving the ball. I have seen very few people do that.
“I don’t see Ohio State moving the ball well either. This is going to be a slugfest. I just don’t see Miami scoring. I’ve told people that if Ohio State scores two touchdowns, they win that game. And I still believe that.”
While the Buckeyes did land two touchdowns, they gave up three in return. As such, fans reposted this video of Meyer making a wrong predicton and trolled him on social media.

Ohio State Stunned By Miami In CFP QF
Ohio State expected a challenge from Miami, but by the end of the first quarter, they were already wondering if they had taken the Hurricanes too easily.
Miami jumped to a 14-0 lead as they scored two touchdowns. The second touchdown was by Miami’s Keionte Scott, who returned an interception 72 yards. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin threw two interceptions against one touchdown while completing 22 of 35 passes for 287 yards. Meanwhile, Miami quarterback Carson Beck completed 19 of 26 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown. Miami restricted Ohio State to just 45 rushing yards, which proved to be the ultimate difference in the game.
With the win, Miami advances to the CFP semifinal (the Fiesta Bowl) where they will face either Georgia or Ole Miss on January 8, 2026.
