Former Heisman winner Johnny Manziel had an interesting beginning to his football career. The dual-threat quarterback went to Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas, where he played several sports including football, basketball, baseball, and golf.
On Tuesday, the Glory Daze podcast published a video in which Manziel was put on the spot to see how well he remembered his high school teammates and standout moments from his senior season.
Manziel had a well-known signature celebration when he was in college, but when interviewer Alex Day asked if he had one in high school, the former quarterback said:
“Man, I probably would’ve just gone like this — that’s it. I don’t think we could really f**king celebrate where I went to high school. They were pretty hard-a**. You’d get benched for that.”

Manziel was recruited by the Texas A&M Aggies in 2011. His first season came as a redshirt freshman under Kevin Sumlin in 2012 and he ended up taking home several accolades, including the coveted Heisman Trophy.
Johnny Manziel Reveals Other Tidbits From His High School Memories
During the same interview, Johnny Manziel was also asked who led his team in receiving touchdowns in his senior year. Manziel hesitated, guessing Braedon White or Keller Fornes, only to be reminded it was actually Sean Kibbett, who had 12 scores.
“Sean Kibbett? Wow, 12? Really?” Manziel asked before adding, “I can’t believe he had 12 that year. He was playing outside. Our slots got most of the targets. We did have like 50, 60 touchdowns that year.”
Interestingly, Kibbett and Manziel both went to the same college.
“Sean Kibbett went to A&M with me. I see him probably once, twice a year,” Manziel added.
Manziel might not remember many things from his high school but one question that he answered correctly was the one time he caught a touchdown. When asked who threw him, he named “Kyle Bernhardt” before breaking down the play:
“We put our center out wide, off the ball — like in an X position. Pretty much ran like an option reverse, they tossed it to him, and he f**king launched it. He was also our first baseman on the baseball team, so he had a cannon. But yeah — Kyle Bernhardt.”
Manziel also revealed that his senior season gave him a lot of confidence. He also disclosed that previously, he thought he would end up becoming a baseball player, even getting drafted, but his love for football made him “put baseball on the back burner.”
