Four-star Kaydon Finley is still a year away from starting his college career. As a member of the 2026 recruiting class, he does not need to decide which school he is going to yet.
Despite not being restricted, Finley chose to join head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This announcement came from insider Hayes Fawcett.
Finley reportedly chose to join the Fighting Irish over offers from other top programs, including Texas, Texas A&M and Arizona State. He is joining a team that made an appearance in the national championship game this past season.

Kaydon Finley Celebrates His Committment to Notre Dame Fighting Irish
After the announcement was made public on Friday, Kaydon Finley posted a picture of himself celebrating his decision to commit to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with his girlfriend, Keely, on his Instagram story.

Part of the reason so many fans were shocked Finley chose to commit to Notre Dame over Texas is because of who his father is. He is the son of Jermichael Finley, who played in the NFL as a tight end from 2008 to 2013 for the Green Bay Packers. However, before he started his NFL career, he played for the Texas Longhorns.
As a result, many fans and media members expected Finley to go to his father’s alma mater. However, it appears that Kaydon is focused on forging his own path in college.
