The season may not be going the way Steve Sarkisian envisioned, with the Texas Longhorns holding a 7-3 record that’s almost bad enough to eliminate them from College Football Playoff contention. But life continues, and so does the world of football.
Sarkisian might be thinking of next year already (and on how to fix what has gone wrong so far), and recruitment is possibly one of his priorities. Well, this Saturday at least brought some good news for him on that front: five-star defensive line recruit Richard Anderson is in town for his official visit to Texas.

If Sarkisian manages to convince him to come to Austin, it will be a coup against another SEC program, the LSU Tigers, to whom Anderson is currently committed. The even poorer fashion of the Tigers’ season might be enough for the Texas coach to change his mind.
Richard Anderson is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, which explains his decision to commit to the state’s flagship school. He’s considered the top defensive lineman and the second-best overall prospect in the state for the class of 2026. He’s the 12th overall recruit in the nation, according to 247Sports.
If the Longhorns want to convince him to move to Austin, they better not fumble the game against the Arkansas Razorbacks this afternoon.

Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian On Rumors About Him Leaving The Longhorns
Rumors that Steve Sarkisian wants to leave the Texas Longhorns following the disappointing season haven’t abated. This is despite Sarkisian’s efforts to convince the public opinion otherwise.
Recently, press reports had him saying:
“I’ve had no discussions, not with my agent, not with the university, not with any other school, not with any NFL team, about ever going anywhere else. I came here to win championships.”
This is news to me… Thanks for the insight 🫵🏽🤦🏽♂️ https://t.co/9oD7wr24Ha

Last month, his agent, Jimmy Sexton, denied a report from The Athletic that Sarkisian was interested in returning to the NFL. More recently, Texas’s athletic director, Chris Del Conte, rejected a report by ESPN’s Desmond Howard that stated that the school and coach might part ways amicably at the end of the year.
