“Arch Might Actually Kind of Suck”: Texas QB’s Near-Disaster Start Elicits Doubts From Fans

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning entered the 2025 college football season with a lot of hype. Despite never starting a full college season before, he was projected by many to be one of the top Heisman contenders. However, in Week 1 against Ohio State, Manning struggled as the Longhorns lost their first game of the season.

In Week 2, Manning is expected to bounce back against San Jose State. However, early in the game, he nearly threw an interception and did not look good.

The game was discussed actively in the game thread on Reddit on Saturday afternoon.

Many fans started to question whether Arch Manning is any good in the comments.

“Texas on major fraud watch a minute into the game, just as we all expected,” one fan wrote.

“Manning is buns,” one fan commented.

“Arch might actually kind of suck,” one fan added.

Fans continued to discuss Manning’s nearly disastrous start in the comments.

“Arch has the yips,” one fan wrote.

“Manning is putrid lmao,” one commented.

“I’m not trying to sound like a hater because I actually enjoy Texas but if they lose do you think they’d be knocked out of the top 25?” one fan added.

Coach Prime Sent a Powerful Message to Arch Manning Earlier This Week

While many people in the football world quickly abandoned Arch Manning after one bad game, he has support from some big figures in the community. Notably, earlier this week, Coach Prime spoke about the guidance he would give the young Texas quarterback.

“Be you. Don’t placate to others, be you, and be the best you that you could possibly be,” Deion Sanders said. “Quit trying to be whatever it is for them. And not that he’s doing that, but that’s what I told my sons. That’s what I tell my team. That’s what I tell everybody.”

While Arch Manning got off to a bad start against San Jose State, he still has a lot of time to turn things around. The Longhorns are still heavily favored to win the game and should be able to pull off the win even if their QB has a subpar game.
