Texas QB Quinn Ewers Reportedly Offered $6 Million To Enter Transfer Portal Amid NFL Draft Rumors

Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers is expected to declare for the NFL Draft, but he's reportedly been offered $6 million to enter the transfer portal.

Quinn Ewers could be considered among the most controversial quarterbacks in college football. The Texas Longhorns star is one of the more gentle and soft-spoken players in CFB, and few can say anything bad about him personality-wise, yet he remains largely divisive.

Ewers’ on-field performance is typically either superb or unsatisfactory, causing fans to question whether he deserves to be Texas’ starting QB. It doesn’t help that backup Arch Manning is widely believed to be a better fit for the starting role. And now, some are attaching large monetary denominations to his name, adding fuel to the controversy.

Quinn Ewers Offered $6 Million NIL Deal as Incentive To Enter Transfer Portal

With the 2025 NFL Draft coming up, varying reports on Ewers’ future in Texas have circulated through the media, with some reports claiming that he will declare. As though things couldn’t get more confusing, a recent report states that Ewers has been offered $6 million to enter the transfer portal.

Ewers has neither confirmed nor denied these rumors, leaving fans unsure about his future with the Longhorns. Ewers told reporters early in December 2024 that he is “not sure” if he will remain with the Longhorns for another year or declare for the draft.

A recent report from On3’s Pete Nakos reveals that there might be a third option for the star QB. The report claims that Ewers has been offered a $6 million NIL deal to enter the transfer portal, though the program that made this offer has not been named.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has not addressed this report but gave his stance earlier in December when he spoke about the NFL-eligible players on his team.

“I just tell them all, focus on what we’re doing right now,” Sarkisian said. “And I do that with some of them, because the guys, they want to know. They’re hearing from agents and all that stuff.

“The best thing they can do for their future, whether they decide to stay or leave, is to play really good in the College Football Playoff because those will be the games that will get evaluated by the NFL anyway.”

Ewers To ‘Just Take Care of Football’ Amid Transfer Rumors

Ewers has had his ups and downs at Texas, dealing with injuries and inconsistent performances. That said, he has led his team to consecutive 10-win seasons and back-to-back CFP appearances. Though he didn’t have the Heisman season many expected from him, he is no doubt an in-demand player.

With the 2025 NFL Draft in view and the Longhorns gearing up for the Manning era, the chances of Ewers leaving Texas are high. Despite this, Ewers remains focused on the games ahead, postponing decisions about the future.

“I think I just need to be a good leader through the adversity because adversity is going to strike, and just take care of the football,” Ewers told reporters.
