Arch Manning, the new starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, is already stealing the sport’s spotlight. After patiently waiting two years as Quinn Ewers’ change-of-pace backup, Manning is finally set to take charge in the 2025 college football season.
The anticipation surrounding his future on Steve Sarkisian’s team is electric, with even legendary figures like 1999-2002 Texas QB Chris Simms expressing his excitement and belief in the young talent.
Chris Simms’ Take on QB Arch Manning
In a recent interview, Chris Simms couldn’t contain his love and excitement about Manning’s potential. He believes he’ll even give a better show than Ewers.
“Arch, like from the people I know down there, the team is already his. It’s been his. They love Arch. They like Quinn, don’t get me wrong. But from everything I know is that Arch is like the guy and, of course, the talent,” Simms explained.
“Sarkisian, I think he’s gonna be able to do more with Arch now because of his running ability. He’s a better thrower than Quinn Ewers, and I think he’s going to be a better decision-maker from everything I hear to whether they’ll be able to add more offense on the field, so I’m pumped,” he continued. “We’re back, baby.”
Why Manning Is Destined for Greatness
The Texas quarterback isn’t just nepotism hype—he’s got the talent to back it up. He’s the nephew of Peyton and Eli and the grandson of legendary Archie Manning, making up a football pedigree of greatness. The young star has had limited playtime, but when he did, he cooked.
He completed 63 of 95 passes for 969 touchdowns and two picks—solid numbers for limited action.
The praise for Arch Manning doesn’t end with college football—it extends to the NFL. According to NFL Rookie Watch, teams have already planned to “tank for Arch” in the 2026 NFL Draft.
