Simms stated:
“Arch, like from people I know down there, the team’s already his. It’s been his. They love Arch. They like Quinn, don’t get me wrong, but from everything I know, Arch is like the guy. And of course, the talent, Sarkeesian, I think he’s going to be able to do more with Arch, not only because of his running ability, he’s a better thrower than Quinn Ewers.”

Simms continued his praise, saying:
“He’s, I think, going to be a better decision-maker from everything I hear, too, to where they’ll be able to add more offense on the field, right? So I’m pumped. We’re back, baby. Arch, like from people I know.”
Manning comes from a family of football royalty, following in the footsteps of his uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, and his grandfather, Archie Manning. The name alone brings a level of expectation, but his ability on the field will ultimately determine his success at Texas.
With the Longhorns coming off a College Football Playoff appearance, Manning will aim to keep them at the top of the SEC and in contention for a national title in his first year as a starter.
Chris Simms Confident in Arch Manning’s Leadership
Texas fans have long debated quarterback battles, with the Simms vs. Major Applewhite debate during Mack Brown’s early years being one of the most memorable. Now, years later, Simms is weighing in on the current situation and making it clear that he believes it’s Arch Manning’s time.
Now an NFL analyst, Simms didn’t hesitate to declare that Ewers’ era is over in Austin. “It’s Arch Manning’s show from here on out,” he said.
According to Simms, people within the Texas program couldn’t be more excited about what Manning brings to the offense. “His mind, his physical ability. I think they feel like their offense will go to another level with Arch Manning at the helm there,” Simms explained.
He also emphasized Manning’s connection with his teammates, stating:
“He’s got a way with the guys. That was the first thing that I was told about Arch Manning. For some of my Texas friends, the guys love Arch Manning. Not that they dislike Quinn Ewers, but that Arch Manning is the guy.”
